# ModyCrew Legal Notices

Last updated: 2026-07-21

ModyCrew is a Korean AI office product developed by ModyCrew. This notice is
included with release packages so users can review product, open-source, and
third-party attribution information before using the app.

## Product Notice

ModyCrew helps users organize work such as messages, calendars, local files,
documents, reports, and approvals. AI-generated drafts and automation results
may contain errors. Users should review important outputs before sending,
filing, deleting, moving, registering, or submitting anything externally.

Important external actions such as email sending, calendar registration, file
deletion or movement, public submissions, contract/tax/public-office work, and
payment-related activity should require explicit user approval in the product.
Privacy-bearing external uploads, refunds, and other high-impact user-facing
actions should also remain behind product approval gates and execution logs.

## Open-Source and Reference Notice

ModyCrew may use open-source software and may study open-source projects for
architecture ideas. Open-source notices are tracked in `THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md`.
Desktop installers bundle the unmodified OpenAI Codex CLI (`@openai/codex`,
Apache License 2.0) as a background AI answer recovery runtime; the full
license text and details are recorded in `THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md` (see the
"OpenAI Codex CLI" section).
Bundled dependency license metadata is summarized in
`LEGAL_DEPENDENCY_SUMMARY.md`, generated from `package-lock.json`.

Hermes Agent by Nous Research is treated as a reference source unless a future
change explicitly imports code. The default adoption path is clean-room:
document the architecture pattern, implement the ModyCrew version in the
existing TypeScript/Electron runtime, and avoid copying Hermes Agent source,
branding, UI language, README prose, sample data, or unique naming. If
substantial Hermes Agent code is included in a distributed ModyCrew build, the
Hermes Agent MIT license and copyright notice must remain included in
`THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md` and in the distributed package.

If substantial Hermes Agent code is included in any future distributed
ModyCrew build, the copied or modified portions must keep the Hermes Agent MIT
license and copyright notice in the applicable source, notices, and package.

ModyCrew is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Nous Research or
the Hermes Agent project.

## Privacy and Sensitive Data

ModyCrew should not hardcode, print, expose, or commit API keys, OAuth secrets,
passwords, payment details, or personal information. Local memories, learned
skills, logs, and automation artifacts should redact or avoid sensitive data
unless the user explicitly chooses to store it.

Before a public commercial launch, prepare a product-specific privacy policy
and terms of service that match the actual data flow, account system, AI
providers, analytics, storage, messaging integrations, and support process.
The product should also surface open-source notices, approval-required work
notices, and security-boundary notices inside the app and release package.
Release packages should include `LEGAL_NOTICES.md`,
`THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md`, and `LEGAL_DEPENDENCY_SUMMARY.md` together.

## Security Boundary

Approval gates, redaction, scanner rules, and allowlists are product safety
features, not complete security boundaries against adversarial model behavior.
High-risk desktop automation should rely on operating-system permissions,
folder scoping, process isolation, user approval, and reversible operation logs.

## Legal Review

This file is an engineering compliance baseline, not legal advice. Before
commercial launch, review the final installer, bundled dependencies, privacy
policy, terms of service, trademarks, app store requirements, and payment or
public-sector workflows with qualified counsel.
